Cranberry Vanilla Sugar Scrub Recipe

Cranberry Vanilla Sugar Scrub Recipe- I Can’t Keep My Hands Out Of!

This cranberry vanilla sugar scrub recipe smells simply delicious – I can’t keep my hands out of it! Good thing it’s easy to make at home with only five ingredients.

Homemade cinnamon sugar was passed around the table like butter, growing up on our family farm. My mom mixed it up and poured it into a classic diner-style sugar dispenser. We would sprinkle oatmeal, and buttered toast at breakfast and sweet potatoes and dinner rolls in the evening with untold amounts of cinnamon sugar.

And on special Saturday mornings, we rolled homemade donuts in a bowl of cinnamon sugar or sprinkled spoonfuls of it on top of apple pie.

My family still enjoys cinnamon sugar to this day, and my daughter often asks for it on her toast and dinner rolls too. Recently, I’ve found homemade vanilla sugar is an instantly delicious go-to topping for anything and everything – more so than cinnamon sugar.

What is vanilla sugar? It’s an incredibly versatile mixture of vanilla beans and sugar, and it tastes undeniably good in tea and coffee! But, not only can you use vanilla sugar as a topping, but you can also bake with it. It’s easy to replace a small amount of sugar in a recipe with vanilla sugar for added flavor.

-This is how I came up with the idea to make a cranberry vanilla sugar scrub recipe.

I know I don’t often share “beauty” recipes, but there are just some things a farm girl has to have on hand. And that shortlist includes a simple yet effective sugar scrub!

Classic sweet vanilla bean paired with tangy, vibrant cranberry seeds make this sugar scrub recipe stand out. And with very few steps involved, your skin will feel as soft as vanilla buttercream in no time!

How can you put vanilla in a sugar scrub?

If you are wondering how you can put vanilla in a sugar scrub and if you can put vanilla extract in a body scrub – here’s how I did it!

Like most recipes, a little vanilla goes a long way. I made old-fashioned vanilla bean sugar for this sugar scrub, and I’ll teach how to do the same below. I’ve also bought it from the Amish pantry store near our family farm, but you can look for it at your local farmers market or order straight from a farmer here.

And as for vanilla extract, you can add it to body scrub for a strong vanilla aroma. But I recommend keeping to the real stuff, like good old McCormick pure vanilla extract. I’m sure it’s a staple in your kitchen pantry too.

The easy way to make vanilla sugar at home!

How To Make Vanilla Sugar The Easy Way:

  1. Pour four cups of granulated sugar into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Then using a sharp paring knife, open a vanilla pod by slicing it in half lengthwise to reveal the seeds inside.
  3. Use the side of the knife to scrape the vanilla seeds out of the pod and into the bowl of sugar.
  4. Repeat until you have added all the seeds from four vanilla bean pods to the sugar.
  5. Mix the vanilla seeds into the sugar with a fork. Then pour the mixture into your food processor and grind into a fine sugar consistency.

Pour your completed vanilla sugar into an airtight container and label it. Stored this way, it will basically keep indefinitely in your pantry. I’ve found the longer you wait to use it, the stronger the vanilla taste and scent it will have.

Once you’ve got your vanilla sugar ready, you can whip up this cranberry vanilla sugar scrub in no time at all!

Here’s How to Use A Sugar Scrub:

Scoop a small spoonful of this cranberry sugar scrub into your hands. Then gently massage in a circular motion onto wet skin, focusing longer on dry areas.

The sugar granules and cranberry seeds will gently buff away dry skin to reveal smoother skin. Leave the scrub on for a while in the shower or bath, then rinse it. Use it once or twice a week for soft skin.
