How Do You Decorate An Easter Egg Without Dye?
Spring is a season that celebrates joy and renewal. It is a time for new beginnings, growth, and renewed traditions.
The BEST PART – this spring craft can be enjoyed with family and friends. Plus it’s practical for kids too!
It’s a spring-themed craft idea that combines one of my favorite hobbies with farmhouse style wooden eggs into a pretty centerpiece. Can you guess what it is?
Pressing flowers is a simple, but beautiful, way to bring a little spring cheer to your Easter decor. Simple wooden eggs lay a foundation for a pastel ensemble of petals. Each decorated egg speaks to the quiet joy of spring’s gentle return.
Because nothing evokes the rejuvenating spirit of spring quite like flowers.
I love pressing flowers from our gardens, but you could pick flower petals from a nature walk, a friend’s garden or a farm stand to decorate each floral Easter egg. Together you’ll create a meaningful tradition that lasts, unlike dying eggs. What a treasure these will be in your spring decor! You could even write your initials and the year on each egg.
TIPS FOR PRESSING FLOWERS
If this is your first time pressing flowers or you’re keen to try a new method, start here!
Wooden Flower Pressing
This traditional flower pressing method uses a wooden press, sandwiching several layers between wood mats. For the best results, read my steps on how to use a wooden flower press.
Iron Pressing
Place flowers between parchment paper and press firmly on a heat-safe surface with a dry, hot iron. Fair warning- be careful not to burn yourself or the flowers (Guilty).
Book Page Pressing
I began pressing flowers in my youth with this basic method of tucking flowers between pages of books and journals.
Microwave Pressing
This fast flower pressing technique is my favorite for thick flowers. It takes mere minutes to zap flowers dry and flat in the microwave with a microwave press.
No matter which flowering method you choose, I know you’ll capture the essence of a springtime garden in bloom with each pressed flower.
