How To Easily Decorate For Fall

How do you make attractive candles for fall decorating? You can easily decorate for fall with appealing decor when you use basic fall ingredients.

As a person who enjoys farmhouse style and crafting, I understand the appeal of using simple and inexpensive materials to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. And what I call the basic ingredients to a cozy fall farmhouse are often items that you already have on hand.

What are the basic ingredients for fall? In our farmhouse, it starts with adding heavier throw blankets on the couches and folded quilts at the end of our beds. Then adding rugs, candles, pumpkins (who can forget the pumpkins?), warm colors, and warm scents.

I simply pull these first things from the linen closet after washing and storing our lighter summer linens. (It’s also a good time to mend linens or pass things down to the dog.) I also have a few seasonal pillows and pillow covers I swap out around the house. Each step makes a big difference in making our surroundings feel warm and cozy.

The next step is all about fall scents!

How Can I Decorate Candles For Fall?

With our basic fall ingredients gathered, we can let the warm glow and of this fall candle craft set the tone for the cozy and inviting season ahead.

Before you begin, cover and store your candles that smell like summer in your linen closet. And search for those fall-scented candles that you saved from last year as well as plain white candle pillars and unscented candle jars. Then follow these easy steps to decorate!

How To Decorate Candles For Fall:

  1. Wrap natural twine around a plain candle jar or candle pillar two to three times. Then tie it in a knot to secure it, leaving some excess twine.
  2. Tuck a dried fall stem, like the wheat I used, between the twine and glass.
  3. Tie a cinnamon stick to the candle jar with the excess twine.
  4. Tuck a dried orange or apple slice between the twine and glass next to the wheat.

Add more or less of these items to customize your plain candles for an easy fall DIY candle idea. If any of your container candles have wild wicks, smoky jars, or tunneling -you’ll love this candle hack! Turn used candles into wax melts with this easy candle idea!

How To Reuse Candles To Make Wax Melts:

  1. Place a container candle on a candle warmer to melt the wax.
  2. Then carefully remove the wick and wick tab.
  3. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and place a silicone mold for candle melts on top.
  4. Using an oven mitt, slowly pour the melted wax into a small pouring pitcher (trust me, this is much easier and less messy).
  5. Then pour the wax from the pitcher into the silicone mold.

That’s it – let them cool to solidify, pop them out, and they are ready to use!
